Updating Microsoft Office for MacOS

Updating Microsoft Office for MacOS

Starting the update:

This can be done from Microsoft apps such as Word, Teams, Powerpoint, Excel, OneNote, etc.

Navigate to the App Menu bar on the middle/ top left of the screen and select Help

From the drop-down menu, select Check for Updates

A pop-up menu should appear, indicating that the AutoUpdate is in progress.

Clicking the indicated drop down button, you will be able to see other Microsoft Apps in your suite that are out-of-date with an available update, as well as the apps that are up-to-date

Additional notes:

  1. Updating Microsoft apps through this process cannot be done through the OneDrive application, this is because opening the OneDrive app on your Mac will simply open your OneDrive folder through the Finder  app. Finder, being a MacOS native application, will not be able to perform the Microsoft suite updates.
  1. Ensuring Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date  is enabled and following the above steps through a Microsoft app, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc will help make sure all Microsoft Suite applications stay up to date.
